ReplyDeletehappy - going back to philippine literature and movies, Barok is a classic pinoy komiks character created in the 60s/70s by one of the country's pioneers in illustrated cartoons. Barok was a pre-historic character who carried a big stick. later on, chiquito, a popular comedian made a series of movies using Barok as his charcater. in those movies a distinguishing mark was Barok English that he spoke - broken, mis-pronounced, taglish, funny very bad pinoy english. something worse than tarzan english - "Me Tarzan, you jane." barok has become the pinoy slang word to mean in its original usage caveman pinoy english. barok, the pinoy slang word has now taken the meaning of not just barok english but to mean baduy, boorish, uneducated, without finesse, rough, rural/provincial, unrefined, crass ... you know what i mean.
